Teacher Spotlight: Matt Salzman 'Goes Above And Beyond'

Why do you believe the teacher should be recognized or honored?

From his Summer Site Coordinator..Mr. Salzman taught 4th and 5th-grade students with disabilities who are in LFI during the year. During the program, he has shown flexibility, care for students, kindness, and patience, and performed above and beyond his assigned class duties. He positively engaged the students in educational activities, differentiated his instruction to meet their levels of performance, took data to monitor their progress towards goal, managed the other adults in his classroom, and supported the smooth operations of the program as a whole. He came in early, stayed late, and supported other staff members, always with a positive attitude and professionalism.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the teacher?

Senor or Mr. Salzman connects with his students. He takes the time to get to know the students as a whole: who they are, away from the academics. He arrives early, stays late and goes above and beyond. He is passionate about what he does. He emphasizes -it's not just about the grade but learning the material and being able to apply it in real life.
