There looks to be the possibility of rain drops in our future as far as the eye can see. But hey, the weekend's almost here. So let's make the most of it with this "we will get by" edition of "The Rundown":

  • Hear what members of the Rockville City Council have to say in a new format this evening as Rockville 11 broadcasts pilot episodes of the live talk show  Councilwoman Bridget Donnell Newton and Councilman Piotr Gajewski will appear at 5 p.m. Councilmen Mark Pierzchala and John Britton appear at 6 p.m. County Cable Montgomery's Susan Kennedy hosts.
  • Looking for music and fun on a Friday night? Strathmore's "Friday Night Eclectic" series hosts  at The Mansion. A veteran of the local Irish pub scene—and a local-boy-made-good, Garber is a good time. See for yourself with  when he was Strathmore's Artist in Residence.
  • We don't want to condone drinking away the day (even though there's a darn fine Modest Mouse song about it), but if you're looking to kill a few hours on a Saturday evening—and don't mind killing off a few brain cells in the name of good wine—the King Farm Wine Festival is the place to be tomorrow. They'll have samples from local wineries, food, live music and more.

  • Looking toward next week, the Rockville Science Cafe returns on Tuesday at . This month's topic: "The Human Biome: Friendly Germs Within You" with Scott Peterson, director of Functional Genomics Research Technology at the J. Craig Venter Insititute. Sounds delightfully icky.
  • Bike to Work Day is a week from today and the city and county are supporting pedal pushers in a variety of ways. There will be two morning pit stops in Rockville: One will be at Rockville Town Center, along East Montgomery Avenue between Maryland Avenue and Monroe Street. The other will be at the Fallsgrove Transit Center, near the intersection of Fallsgrove Drive and Oak Knoll Terrace. Bike commuters can stop from 7 to 9 a.m. to meet other area cyclists for light snacks, coffee and prizes. Cyclists can reserve a free T-shirt by going to the Washington Area Bicyclist Association's Web site. Call 240-773-2989 for more information.
