ROCKVILLE, MD — A lucky trucker from Rockville scored big when he won $50,000 in the Maryland Lottery, lottery officials said.
The trucker stopped at the Rockville Service Center at 1900 Rockville Pike and purchased a 20x the Cash instant ticket. The 43-year-old uncovered his prize right there at the gas station.
“I was bursting, but I didn’t want anyone to know,” he told lottery officials. “It was like a Zen thing, breathing and meditation.”

After successfully maintaining a poker face, the lucky trucker drove away with his winning ticket. He told lottery officials he plans to buy a new house and will continue to buy $5 scratch-off tickets whenever he fills his tank with gas.
“The odds of me finding another big winner are long, but I already beat’ em once,” the winner said.

The lucky Rockville retailer also shares in the fun for selling the top-prize scratch-off in the game. The Rockville Service Center earned a $500 bonus from the Lottery.
The 20x the Cash game is a member of the Multiplier family of scratch-off games that arrived at Lottery retailers in January. Players can try their luck with the 5x the Cash game, 10x the Cash game and 50x the Cash game. A Multiplier Madness second-chance contest also offers the chance to win a cash prize of up to $50,000 in one of three drawings in March, April and May.
