Here are the closures to know for Independence Day and events around Rockville.
ROCKVILLE, MD — As residents get ready to celebrate the Independence Day with fireworks, barbecues and travel, various closures and schedule changes are planned for services around Rockville.
The Independence Day holiday falls on Monday, July 4, which means some services will be closed for a three-day weekend. Rockville government offices will be closed on July 4, and other services will have schedule changes.
Rockville’s Independence Day Celebration, featuring fireworks, will be held 7-10 p.m. at Mattie J.T. Stepanek Park, in King Farm.

Here are the openings and closings to know for the Fourth of July in Rockville:
City of Rockville government offices: Closed on Monday, July 4.

The following facilities will also be closed on Independence Day: Lincoln Park, Thomas Farm and Twinbrook community centers; the Rockville Senior Center; Croydon Creek Nature Center and the F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre and box office, which are closed Mondays; Glenview Mansion and the Rockville Civic Center business office.
Rockville Swim and Fitness Center: Will close at 6 p.m. on July 4. Find summer hours for individual swim center facilities at www.rockvillemd.gov/swimcenter.
Rockville Skate Park: Will be open.
Recycling and trash collections in Rockville: Will occur one day later than usual throughout the week. For more information on recycling and trash collection, visit this link or call 240-314-8568.
City parking: Parking will be free at city-owned meters on July 4.
Montgomery County Public Schools: Students are on summer break, but all schools and offices are closed on July 4.
State offices and courts: Closed.
Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration offices and Vehicle Emissions Inspection Program stations: Closed.
Montgomery County Libraries: Closed.
Alcohol Beverage Services (ABS) in Montgomery County: All stores will be open 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
Montgomery County-operated COVID-19 Vaccination and Testing Clinics: Closed.
Montgomery County Ride On: Will operate on a Saturday schedule.
Ride On extRa and Flex: Not in service.
Flash: Will operate on a weekend schedule (Orange Line only).
MARC Train and Commuter Bus: No rail service on the Camden or Brunswick Lines, the Penn Line will operate on a Sunday schedule.
TRiPS Silver Spring commuter store: Closed.
TRiPS Mobile Commuter Store: Closed.
Metrorail: On Sunday, July 3, Metrorail will operate additional service. Metrorail will operate from 8 a.m.-11 p.m. Trains will operate on a regular weekend schedule every 12 minutes on the Red Line and every 15 minutes on all other lines until 4 p.m. On Monday, July 4, trains will operate on a Sunday schedule. Metrorail will open at 8 a.m. and close at 11 p.m. Trains will run every 12 minutes on the Red Line and every 15 minutes on all other lines until 8 p.m., then every 15 minutes on the Red Line and every 20 minutes on all other lines until closing.
Metrobus: Will operate on a Sunday service schedule on Sunday, July 3, and Monday, July 4 (observed holiday). Check timetables for details. MetroAccess customers can make reservations to travel during the holiday; however, subscription trips will be canceled both days.
Montgomery County parking at public garages, lots, curbside meters: Free.
Montgomery County-provided trash and recycling: No collections will not be made on July 4. Collections will slide one day during the week, with the last pickup on Saturday, July 9.
Shady Grove Transfer Station and Recycling Center: Closed.
Montgomery County Recreation: County outdoor aquatic facilities will be open 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and 3-6 p.m. Indoor aquatic facilities will close at 6 p.m., except for the Germantown Indoor Swim Center, which will close at 3 p.m.
Montgomery Community recreation and senior centers: Closed.
