What's Open, Closed in Montgomery County On Thanksgiving 2016

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — Local schools, libraries and courts will be closed in Montgomery County for Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 24 and 25, while bus and train service schedules will vary for the four-day weekend.

Montgomery County government will observe the following holiday schedule for Thanksgiving:

• MCPS Schools and Administrative Offices – closed Thursday, November 24 and Friday, November 25
• County Offices – closed
• Libraries – closed
• County Liquor stores – closed
• Recreation - all programs and facilities are closed
• Montgomery Parks - For holiday operating schedule on Parks’ facilities, including Brookside Gardens, ice rinks, tennis centers, trains and carousels, visit www.MontgomeryParks.org
• Ride On – Ride On will run on a Sunday schedule
• Metrorail – Information available at www.wmata.com
• Metrobus – Information available at www.wmata.com
• TRiPS Commuter Stores (Silver Spring and Friendship Heights) – closed
• Refuse/recycling Collections – No collection*
• The Shady Grove Processing Facility and Transfer Station - closed. Public Unloading Facility and Recycle Lot, at the Transfer Station will close at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, November 23
• Parking at public garages, lots, curbside meters – free
• State offices and courts – closed Thursday, November 24 and Friday, November 25
• *Collection for Thursday and Friday provided one day later for remainder of week (last collection day is Saturday)

City of Rockville Closings

All city facilities will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 24, for the Thanksgiving holiday, say city officials. City Hall, the Rockville Senior Center, Glenview Mansion and the F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre box office also will be closed Friday, Nov. 25.

Recycling and refuse normally collected on Thursdays will be collected Friday, Nov. 25. For more information, visit here, or call 240-314-8568.

The following facilities are open Friday, Nov. 25, for the following hours:

• Croydon Creek Nature Center (10 a.m.-2 p.m.).
• Lincoln Park, Thomas Farm and Twinbrook community centers (10 a.m.-6 p.m.).
• Rockville Swim and Fitness Center north pool and fitness room (6 a.m.-9 p.m.). The south pool will be closed. Visit here for more information.
