What's Open, Closed In Rockville For Juneteenth 2022
Some Montgomery County and Rockville services will be closed June 20, 2022 in observance of Juneteenth.
ROCKVILLE, MD — Offices, libraries and more in Rockville will be closed June 20 in observance of Juneteenth, which is celebrated on June 19.
The 25th Montgomery County Juneteenth celebration will be held June 18 at the BlackRock Center for the Arts in Germantown, with an awards ceremony, educational passport activities, a historical journey of African American Music and artistic entertainment, and food trucks.
"Juneteenth is a chance to gather with our community, celebrate our diversity, and remember our history," said Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich in a news release. "We reaffirm that we are stronger as a County because of our diversity."

Here's what will be open and closed in Rockville on June 20:
- Rockville City Hall—Closed
- Rockville city facilities—most will be closed
- Rockville recycling and trash collection—will be picked up as scheduled
- County offices—Closed
- State offices and courts—Closed
- State Motor Vehicle Administration offices and Vehicle Emissions Inspection Program stations—Closed
- Libraries—Closed
- County-operated COVID-19 Vaccination and Testing Clinics-Closed
- Ride On—Operating on a holiday schedule using the schedules that went into effect on May 8
- Ride On extRa and Flex—Not in service
- Flash—Will operate on a weekend schedule (Orange Line only).
- MARC Train and Commuter Bus—Regularly scheduled Sunday Penn Line service on Sunday, June 19. R Schedule on all three lines, in addition Penn Line trains 453 and 452 will operate on Monday, June 20.
- Metrorail and Metrobus – Metrorail operating on its Sunday schedule on June 19 with service from 7 a.m. to midnight. On June 20 it will operate on a Saturday Holiday schedule, with service between 5 a.m. and midnight. Metrobus will operate on a weekday schedule on June 20.
- Parking at public garages, lots, curbside meters—Free.
- County-collected trash and recycling—County-collected trash and recycling will be made as usual on June 20. The regularly schedule will be followed for the rest of the week as well.
- Shady Grove Processing Facility and Transfer Station—Closed on June 19. Open on June 20.
- Recreation: County outdoor aquatic facilities will be open 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 3 to 6 p.m. Indoor aquatic facilities will close at 6 p.m.
- Community recreation and senior centers—Closed.
