1. Salisbury City Council announces new leadership for all-woman panel (delmarvanow.com) — Salisbury residents have a new City Council president and vice president after D’Shawn Doughty’s recent resignation and the appointment of Melissa Holland to the vacant District 2 seat. Angela Blake moves from vice president to president, April Jackson becomes vice president, and the council is now made up entirely of women, including members Michele Gregory and Sharon Dashiell.
   

2. Perdue family donates $1 million to new Salisbury library (wmdt.com) — A $1 million gift from the Perdue family and their foundation has pushed the new Salisbury library on Schumaker Pond closer to reality, marking a key milestone in its capital campaign. Library leaders say the donation will help create a flagship, community-pride facility for Wicomico County, celebrated at an event with local and state officials.
   

3. SU Again Named 'Best for Vets' by 'Military Times' (salisbury.edu) — Salisbury University has once again been recognized by Military Times as a “Best for Vets” school, highlighting the campus’s strong support for local veterans and military families. SU’s Office of Veteran Services helps students navigate VA benefits, provides dedicated study and social spaces, and offers additional programs aimed at helping veterans reach their educational and career goals.
   

4. 2025 was a big year for new businesses in Ocean City, Salisbury, Md. (delmarvanow.com) — Salisbury saw a wave of new restaurants, cafes, and shops open in 2025, from Korean-Japanese spot KOJI downtown to new coffeehouses, ethnic eateries, and a forthcoming Crumbl Cookies at The Commons. The roundup also highlights Ocean City’s latest dining and retail additions, but Salisbury residents can discover many fresh options for coffee, takeout, date nights, and family meals close to home.
   

5. SU's Alberi Selected as Rhodes, Gates Cambridge Finalist (salisbury.edu) — A Salisbury resident and Salisbury University senior has been named a finalist for both the prestigious Rhodes and Gates Cambridge scholarships, capping a standout academic career rooted in SU research opportunities. While currently in Estonia working on the country’s first lunar rover through a Boren Scholarship, she credits SU’s faculty and fellowships office for guiding her toward these elite international awards.
