2 Teens Charged In Silver Spring Carjackings

SILVER SPRING, MD — Two teens were arrested recently for two armed carjackings in Silver Spring that were reported on Feb. 18, Montgomery County Police said on Tuesday.

Kelvin Lovell Hager, 18, and a 14-year-old boy have been arrested and charged in the two cases. The first carjacking was reported about 10 a.m. on Feb. 18 in the 500 block of Thayer Avenue.

About 10:30 p.m. that day, officers were called to a second armed carjacking in the 8700 block of Cameron Street, believed to be committed by the same suspects.

Detectives identified a 14-year-old boy as one of the suspects in the Thayer Avenue carjacking. He was charged and released to the custody of a parent or guardian.

Hager was later named as one of the suspects in the Thayer Avenue carjacking and on May 5 an arrest warrant was obtained. He was incarcerated in Washington, D.C., on unrelated charges when the warrant was issued, police said.

On July 29, Hager waived his extradition rights and was taken to Montgomery County. Detectives later charged Hager and the 14-year-old with the Cameron Street carjackings.

Hager is being held without bond at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit.
