5 Things You Need to Know Today: Dec. 30, 2011

Good morning, Silver Spring! Here are five things to know this Friday to help you keep up-to-date about what’s going on in the community:

1. Today should be partly sunny, with temperatures in the mid 50s, according to the National Weather Service. Later on tonight, there is a slight chance of showers with temperatures in the low 40s.

WEEKEND FORECAST:

This weekend should be sunny with temperatures in the 50s for New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. The evening temperatures are expected to drop to the low 30s.

2. Looking to bring in the new year in Silver Spring? There are many places you can check out in downtown and nearby.

3. If you missed it, two young women died in a Thursday morning crash in Silver Spring. Montgomery County Police are asking for anyone who has information to call 301-840-2435.

4. Is visiting the White House a part of your resolutions for 2012? Request free tour tickets about 30 days to six months ahead of time. If you are a U.S. citizen, contact your Congressperson’s office or citizens of foreign countries can contact their embassy in D.C.
