5 Things You Need to Know Today: Nov. 30, 2011

Good morning, Silver Spring! Here are five things to know this Wednesday to help you keep up-to-date about what’s going on in the community:

1. Expect a mostly sunny day with a high temperatures near 50 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. Later on this evening, the skies should clear up with temperatures in the low 30s.

2. If you're riding on the red line this weekend, you may need to change your route.

3. Join the community celebration at the Silver Spring Civic Center located at One Veterans Place. The Montgomery County Collaboration Council's Board of Directors is hosting a networking and refreshments from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., with a special program.

4. Take the family to the Garden of Lights at Brookside Gardens. There are nearly 1 million lights. Volunteers work hard the months before the winter holidays to create amazing scenes for this annual winter light show. It starts at 5:30 p.m.

5. Coming up in Silver Spring Patch, do you have an issue with leaf blowers in your neighborhood? Come back at noon.
