Here are five things to know as you start your day.

Good morning, Silver Spring! Here are five things to know this Monday, to help you keep up-to-date about what’s going on in the community:
1. Expect sunny skies with temperatures reaching into the mid 60s, according to the National Weather Service. Tonight, the skies should be clear and temperatures are expected to drop to the low 40s.
2. Maryland Transit Authority is hosting an open house at the Silver Spring Civic Center from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Officials will be present to answer any questions about the Purple Line and provide a status update on the project.

3. Interested in stone carving? Learn more about the technique with Create Arts Center located at 816 Thayer Ave. Kids from ages 8 to 12 can learn about using several colors of alabaster to carve small and medium sized sculptures as well as amulets, beads, and pendants. Class starts at 4 p.m.
4. Learn ways to save energy with Silver Spring Green. They are set to host The Residential Energy Efficiency Workshop on November 17 at the Silver Spring Civic Center to help local residents learn more about being energy efficient. You can register for their free.
