Accused Gunman In America's Best Wings Shooting In Custody: Police
Markus Tyrelle Dowdy was charged with murder in connection with a Nov. 4 shooting at America's Best Wings restaurant in White Oak.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — A 33-year-old man accused in a fatal shooting that occurred at a Montgomery County restaurant on Nov. 4 is now in custody, Montgomery County Police said Monday.
Police searched for Markus Tyrelle Dowdy for a month following the shooting at America's Best Wings, located in the 11200 block of New Hampshire Avenue in White Oak, authorities said in a news release.
Dowdy was arrested in Takoma Park on Saturday, Dec. 2, by the United States Marshals, Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force, police said. He is charged in the fatal shooting of 34-year-old Marvin Jefferson of Silver Spring.

The shooting happened shortly before 6 p.m. on Nov. 4. According to authorities, two men suffered gunshot wounds in the shooting, which happened in the restaurant in the White Oak Shopping Center.
Jefferson, of Silver Spring, was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died, police said. The second victim's injuries were considered serious but not life-threatening. He has since been released from the hospital, police said.

On Nov. 5, detectives applied for and received an arrest warrant charging Dowdy with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault, use of a firearm in the commission of a violent crime, second-degree assault and other related charges.
Dowdy who has no known address, is being held in the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he awaits a bond hearing.
