Silver Spring Mom Council-Applicants Needed

Just like your kids, Patch needs your help.

We know it’s tough being a parent in the high-powered, constantly changing and demanding place that is the Washington metro region. And we want you to know how awed we are by the feats you perform every day with your kids – from scheduling your commutes around daycare pickup times to preparing umpteen healthy-yet-delicious snacks for another school event to supporting and nurturing children with special needs.

But even the supermommies and superdaddies among us could use some help, right? Or at least a place where you can share ideas with other people who are on the same bumpy, glorious, exhausting, fun-filled ride you’re on, right?

So, very soon, we will start producing a lot of material that is directed at you. It will include tips on how to keep the kiddos entertained in the dead of winter all the way to some easy, fun ways to give yourselves a much-deserved break from time to time. Events and outings, schools, family budgets and time away from your children will all be up for discussion.

But here’s the catch – we need your help.

We are on the hunt for some of you supermommies and superdaddies (and supergrandmommies, superstepmommies – you get the idea) to join our Moms Council to share your wisdom with your community. We know you’ve been there, done that, and we hope you can help us help other parents in the area.

By now you’re probably wondering what’s involved. And here, it’s a bit of “Choose Your Own Adventure.” (That’s one of our favorite kids’ series, by the way.)

As a baseline, we’ll want to include you on an email list with others on the Moms Council so you can chat about the trade secrets of what has worked for you as a parent in the area. We’ll ask for you to share some of those ideas with the greater Patch audience, and we hope to plan some mommy meetups for you to get together with other moms and dads in the area.

So — pretty please with sugar on top — come join our council by emailing Tamika Smith at tamika@patch.com to let her know you want to join the Silver Spring Patch Moms Council. We’re eager to get started.
