'Boosterama' Coming To Westfield Wheaton Mall Feb. 19
Montgomery County will sponsor a COVID-19 booster clinic at a mall in an effort to offer vaccines at more convenient spots for residents.
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — So far 455,781 people in Montgomery County have gotten their COVID-19 booster shot, and the county is looking to increase that number through a booster clinic at the Westfield Wheaton Mall this weekend.
"While this number represents more than 20 percent of all boosters given throughout the State, it is only about half of the residents who are eligible for boosters have received one," the county said in a news release.
Medical providers at the "Boosterama" event will be giving out booster shots, as well as first doses for anyone over the age of 12. It'll be held inside the Westfield Wheaton Mall's entrance 14 on the first floor near DICK’S Sporting Goods on Feb. 19 from 1 to 4 p.m.

“While about half of our eligible population has received boosters, we’re seeing a slowdown in the number of eligible people getting boosters,” said Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich in a news release. “There is a clear correlation between being vaccinated and the reduced impact of severe COVID-19 symptoms. The bottom line is that vaccines work. Please don’t delay getting this extra protection if you still need, and are eligible for, your booster."
Anyone who gets a vaccine will also be given a free COVID-19 test and N95 mask.
