COVID-19 Cases In Montgomery County Rise By 99; Total Hits 23,293
Montgomery County reported 99 new COVID-19 cases and one new death on Thursday, Oct. 8.

SILVER SPRING, MD — The Maryland Health Department on Thursday reported 99 new COVID-19 cases and one new death in Montgomery County, bringing the total number of cases to 23,293 and the local death toll to 812.
Another 40 people, health officials believe, had COVID-19 but died before ever getting tested. "Probable deaths" aren't included in the official fatality count until they are confirmed by a laboratory test.
Montgomery County — Maryland's most populous jurisdiction — has the highest number of deaths in the state. It also has the second highest number of confirmed cases, after Prince George's County, which has 30,356, according to the latest figures.

Across Maryland, there have been 129,425 cases, 3,835 confirmed deaths, and 144 "probable deaths." Of the 403 people that are currently hospitalized, 98 are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
