Critical Violations Reported At 8 Silver Spring Food Establishments

SILVER SPRING, MD — Officials from the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services inspects food preparation and storage businesses in Silver Spring.

All Montgomery County licensed retail food establishments are inspected by the Licensure & Regulatory Services Program. Regular comprehensive inspections include evaluating an establishment's sanitation, maintenance and food service operations. These inspections include monitoring critical temperatures and food handling procedures.

From Aug. 1 to Aug. 20, inspectors identified eight Silver Spring businesses with critical violations of food safety requirements.

"A Critical Violation means a food safety requirement that requires immediate correction," according to the health and human services website. "Failure for immediate correction results in cessation of some or all food operations or closure of the facility until violation is able to be corrected."

The following Silver Spring licensed retail food establishments had critical violations that were corrected, according to the Montgomery County Department Health and Human Services:

• Blue Pearl Buffet & Grill, 8661 Colesville Road, Silver Spring was found to be out of compliance in one area. This violation was corrected.
• Chicken Loco, 8523 Piney Branch Road, Silver Spring was found to be out of compliance in three areas. These violations were corrected.
• Dunkin Donuts #358197, 13804 Outlet Drive, Silver Spring was found to be out of compliance in two areas. These violations were corrected.
• Gotera Depot, 8709 Flower Ave., Silver Spring was found to be out of compliance in one area. This violation was corrected.
• Meleket Ethiopian Restaurant, 1907 Seminary Road, Silver Spring was found to be out of compliance in two areas. These violations were corrected.
• Pupuseria Y Taqueria El Buen Gusto, 12245 Viers Mill Road, Silver Spring was found to be out of compliance in two areas. These violations were corrected.
• Santucci Delicatessen, 10107 Colesville Road, Silver Spring was found to be out of compliance in two areas. These violations were corrected.
• TGI Friday's, 12281 Tech Road, Silver Spring was found to be out of compliance in one area. This violation was corrected.
