Discovery 911 Calls Released

When the gunman arrived at Discovery Channel Headquarters on Wayne and Discovery Place, shots were fired, and James J. Lee was strapped with suspected explosives. In the emergency phone calls released by Montgomery County Police, the 911 operator tried get an idea of the situation to dispatch officers to the location.

Caller: There's a hostage Discovery Building … Discovery. There's someone in the building with guns. I'm calling from uh Urban District. I work with Urban District.

911 operator: OK, OK, what kind of, what kind of weapons do they have sir?

Caller: No, I can't see. I'm on the outside.

911 operator: OK, who told you there's someone inside?

Caller: Huh?

911 operator: Who told you there's someone inside with weapons?

Caller: An auxiliary worker.
