Fire Displaces Family, Dogs In Silver Spring

Four people and two dogs escaped a heavy fire at their Silver Spring home late Sunday night, officials said.

SILVER SPRING, MD — Four people and two dogs escaped a heavy fire at their Silver Spring home late Sunday night, officials said.

The blaze broke out at the single-family home at 4404 Mahan Rd. in Randolph Hills at about 11:30 p.m.

A neighbor told the residents they saw the fire and everyone managed to escape, Montgomery County Fire & Rescue spokesperson Pete Piringer said.

The fire caused more than $250,000 in damage and is believed to be electrical in nature. Officials think it started in the attic, but the cause is still under investigation.

No civilians were injured, but a firefighter suffered a minor injury.

Over 65 firefighters responded to the scene, Piringer said.
