Last Chance: Meetings, County Board Position, and YMCA Fundraiser

Our new "Last Chance" feature lets you know about important upcoming deadlines. Here are some dates that you might not want to miss:

1. If you have an issue you need addressed in the community, take it to the Silver Spring Advisory Board. Three Silver Spring Civic Advisory Committees meet at the located at One Veterans Place tonight (March 26, 2012). The Neighborhoods, Commercial Economic Development, and Pedestrian Safety & Transportation Committees.

2. County Executive Isiah Leggett is in search of applicants to fill two vacancies on the Cable and Communications Advisory Committee. The board is comprised of 15 voting members. It also includes one representative selected by the Montgomery County Chapter of the Maryland Municipal League, another chosen from Rockville and a representative fom Takoma Park. To apply, send your resume and coverletter to countyexecutive.boards@montgomerycountymd.gov.

The deadline is April 6.

3. The YMCA is hosting a fundraiser on Wed., March 28, 2012 at . All you have to do is stop by their location on 9800 Hastings Dr., Silver Spring and pick a ticket up. There may be a few at Firestation 1 the day of the fundraiser as well. At the end of the evening, 15 percent of the total proceeds will go to the YMCA to help fund programming for underserved youth, teens, and families.

There will also be a $5 raffle. Families that attend can enjoy the family-friendly menu and magic tricks at their table.
