LOOK: Long Lines at Early Voting in Silver Spring

The long line greeting voters at Silver Spring Civic Center, one of five early voting locations in Montgomery County, was one of many throughout Maryland and DC, according to WTOP.com.
One Silver Spring resident told Patch that she got out early because she works as an election judge on election day. She also wanted to beat Hurricane Sandy, which is expected to hit Maryland late Sunday or Monday.
"Well that's why we're doing early voting today, we're done we don't have to worry about," said Rachel.

Gov. Martin O'Malley released a statement Friday that the storm could affect early voting centers in the state. After declaring a state of emergency, the governor may now lawfully postpone early voting; specify alternate voting locations or specify alternate voting systems, according to Maryland law cited in the statement.
Five early voting centers will operate from from Oct. 27 to Nov. 1 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. On Sunday, hours will be 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Sample ballots were mailed to registered voters in Montgomery County and officials are urging voters to mark them ahead of their chosen voting day to make the process faster.
