Victim Identified In Deadly New Hampshire Avenue Crash (patch.com) — Silver Spring residents are being asked for tips after a 76-year-old local cyclist died from injuries suffered when an SUV struck him on the shoulder of New Hampshire Avenue. Police have publicly identified the victim as Robert Sheldon Boethling and say the driver has not yet been named while the collision remains under investigation.

Maryland Men Plead Guilty In Multi-Million-Dollar Money Laundering Conspiracy (thebaynet.com) — Several Silver Spring residents are among 14 people who have pled guilty or been charged in a sweeping Maryland money laundering scheme tied to large-scale wire fraud against public and private organizations. Prosecutors say local defendants helped move millions through shell companies and rapid-fire bank transfers, with key conspirators now facing up to 20 years in federal prison and sentencings set for spring 2026.
   

3. Shaare Tefila Members Visit Israel to See ‘Post-Oct. 7 Resilience' (washingtonjewishweek.com) — Silver Spring residents joined fellow members of Olney’s Shaare Tefila Congregation on a December trip to Israel, aiming to witness post–Oct. 7 resilience and show solidarity. Participants, including several Silver Spring congregants, visited attack sites, met survivors, joined peace-focused dialogues in the West Bank, and spent time in Jerusalem’s markets, returning with powerful stories about grief, recovery, and hope they plan to share back home.
   

4.
