Man Shot By Unknown Suspect In Silver Spring
BREAKING NEWS: A 40-year-old man was shot by an unknown suspect in Silver Spring Wednesday morning, police said.

SILVER SPRING, MD — A 40-year-old man was shot by an unknown suspect in Silver Spring early Wednesday morning, police said.
Police responded to the 8500 block of Piney Branch Rd. at about 6:17 a.m. for the report of an assault that had just occurred.
Officers located the victim suffering from a gunshot wound to his lower body, police said. He told police an unknown suspect approached him from behind, pressed a gun to his side and discharged it. The suspect then fled the area, police said.

The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
This shooting remains an open investigation. Detectives are working to obtain a description of the suspect and more information will be released once it has been confirmed, police said.
