Montgomery County Officer Charged With Conspiracy Released on House Arrest

Delores Culmer, 37, faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison for conspiracy and 10 years for computer fraud.

A solemn Delores Culmer walked into a U.S District Court today with tears in her eyes as she awaited the news in a detention hearing. The Montgomery County Police Officer was charged with fraud for allegedly using her access to the police department computer databases to gain information for her boyfriend and conspiracy to distribute cocaine, according to court documents.

When police officials searched Culmer’s home located on Parker Avenue in Silver Spring, they found multiple documents in connection with her boyfriend, a suspected narcotics trafficker whose name is being held.

In a Greenbelt courtroom, Culmer's Attorney Andrew R. Szekley and the Assistant U.S. Attorney Johnathan Su came to agreement that Culmer could be released on house arrest.

Under these terms, she is suspended from her duties without access to the Montgomery County Police computer system. Culmer will have around the clock supervision; she is also required to surrender her passport.

Culmer can only leave her home to meet with her attorney, to make court appearances, or if she has an medical emergency.

Culmer left the courthouse at 11 a.m. on Friday and is expected back in court for a preliminary court hearing on April 6.
