Montgomery County Sees 143 New Coronavirus Cases; 2 More Deaths
Health officials in Montgomery County added 149 new coronavirus cases and two more deaths on Friday.
SILVER SPRING, MD — Montgomery County registered 149 new coronavirus infections overnight, up from 143 on Thursday, data released by the Maryland Department of Health showed.
For Maryland's most populous jurisdiction, Friday's addition pushes the total number of cases since the pandemic began to 62,234.
In the past 24 hours, two more people have died from the virus. That brings the local death toll to 1,350.

The latest fatality count does not include the 45 others whose deaths were linked to the virus but never confirmed by a lab test. For now, they are considered "probable deaths."
Montgomery County — which is home to roughly 1 million people — continues to have the highest number of deaths in the state. It also has the second-highest number of confirmed cases, after Prince George's County, which has 71,817, according to the latest figures.

Across Maryland, there have been 374,974 coronavirus cases, 7,495 confirmed deaths, and 182 "probable deaths." Of the 1,016 patients being hospitalized for the disease statewide, 272 are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
