News in Review: Cakelove Moves to Fenton Street and Keeping a Tab on Crime in Silver Spring

1. Olympic Gold Medalist Dominique Dawes will be inducted into D.C. sports hall of fame. She will be joined by five other athletes. Their names will be inducted into the D.C. Sports Hall of Fame and prominently displayed at both Nationals Park and RFK Stadium.

2. Meet Top Shelf Bartender Tim Mehling. Mehling puts a personal touch on things behind the bar too. Over his 12 years as a bartender, he has come up with what he calls carnival shots, fashioned after some foods and other tasty treats. The idea is to give customers something special.

3. 5. Cakelove's Warren Brown moved his eatery on Fenton Street. When the space opened up at 8512 Fenton St., the owner Warren Brown said it was an opportunity he couldn't pass up. The new location offers a nice upgrade from the previous one at 935 Ellsworth Drive, he said, where he wasn't getting as much foot traffic as he had hoped for, the visibility of the sweet delights was limited and the direct sunlight was challenging the ability to keep the baked goods at the right temperature.
