Silver Spring, MD - Not Your Average Joe’s will add to the lineup of restaurants at Ellsworth Place when the ribbon is cut on Tuesday, July 12 at 8661 Colesville Road in Silver Spring.

The brand continues to give back to the communities in which it serves and the new Silver Spring location will partner with the American Film Institute Silver Theatre and Cultural Center, a nonprofit working to connect the past, the present and the future of the moving image arts through education.

As part of the location’s pre-opening, the Not Your Average Cause program is set up to have guests donate to the charity instead of paying their bill. Donations in the past have exceeded $10,000. The donation will be made to AFI at the ribbon-cutting ceremony on July 12.

Not Your Average Joe’s is known for its fresh, made-from-scratch dishes. Those looking for a lighter, healthy fare will be pleased with Chicken Caprese, lemon and basil marinated grilled chicken with a salad of arugula, tomatoes, fresh mozzarella and shaved romano cheese tossed in a light lemon vinaigrette.

Seafood lovers will take delight with the Rosemary Skewered Scallops seared and served over a succotash of Israeli couscous, grilled corn, bacon and tomatoes with an orange-chipotle glaze. Not Your Average Joe’s continues to showcase contemporary twists on traditional favorites with the Mustard-Crusted Chicken BLT. This sandwich is far from ordinary, made with mustard and panko crusted chicken, country bacon, lettuce, tomato, tangy slaw, and lemon aioli on toasted ciabatta.

The newest Silver Spring restaurant menu changes with the seasons. The summer menu will be the featured menu once open in July and will last through October. On the summer menu they will be serving up Spiced-Rubbed Pork Tenderloin, a smoky paprika rubbed and grilled pork tenderloin, served with summer vegetable ratatouille and preserved lemon-mint couscous. Another dish on the menu is a summertime favorite, Chimichurri Flank Steak, marinated and grilled to perfection with chimichurri mexican street corn and black bean rice.

The Watermelon-Feta Salad, watermelon, feta cheese and candied pistachios tossed with arugula and spinach in a light lemon dressing, is a great option for guests opting for a lighter dish. Along with changing menu items, the restaurant boasts a robust gluten-free menu with a nice array of options.

The restaurant will accommodate over 200 guests, including a private dining space that can be reserved for special events. The full service bar will serve up craft cocktails, beer and wine. The Silver Spring location takes pride in its distinctive light fixtures, eclectic bar stools, and unique booth fabrics making the dining scene hip yet casual.

The Silver Spring location will be the sixth Not Your Average Joe’s to open in the Washington metropolitan area. Other restaurant locations include Gaithersburg and Bethesda in Montgomery County, plus Leesburg, Reston and Woodbridge, Virginia.
