Pedestrian Dies After Being Hit By Vehicle In Silver Spring: PD

Montgomery County police say a 75-year-old pedestrian was struck and killed in Silver Spring on Thursday.

SILVER SPRING, MD — A 75-year-old Washington, D.C. resident was killed after getting hit by a pickup truck in Silver Spring Thursday night, authorities said.

Shortly after 9 p.m., Montgomery County police were called to the intersection of New Hampshire Avenue and Oakview Drive for the report of a pedestrian-involved collision.

A preliminary investigation by police determined that Zoila Hermelinda Cruz de Dominguez was trying to cross New Hampshire Avenue when she was hit by a 2017 Toyota Tacoma that was traveling north on the same road and approaching Oakview Drive.

She was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The driver of the Toyota — identified as a 64-year-old Silver Spring resident — was not injured in the collision.

The fatal collision is under investigation. Anyone with additional information is asked to call authorities at 240-773-6620.
