SILVER SPRING, MD — Human remains found near Route 29 and New Hampshire Avenue off of the highway in April have been identified as Brenda Lee Hopkins, a Silver Spring woman who was reported missing in 2018.
When Hopkins went missing, Montgomery County Police were not able to identify an exact last day she was seen, they said. A family member said they saw her at home around 10 p.m. on Aug. 8, 2018, but didn't know if she left the house that night or the next morning.

Detectives said they believed Hopkins may have had Alzheimers and wandered away from her home. There was no sign of foul play when her remains were found, police said.
