Residential burglaries dominate the Montgomery County Police weekly major crimes summary for the Silver Spring area. Crimes reported for the week of Feb. 20 to Feb. 28 are as follows:
Commercial Burglaries:
- Lee Plaza located on 8601 Georgia Avenue: A commercial burglary occurred on Friday, Feb. 24 at 9:48 p.m. There was an unknown means of entry and it was unknown whether anything was taken.
- George’s Barber Stylists located on 532 Forest Glen Road: A commercial burglary occurred on Friday, Feb. 24 at 3 a.m. There was a forced entry and nothing was taken.
Residential Burglaries:

- 8900 block of third Avenue: A residential burglary occurred on Monday, Feb. 20 at 2 a.m. A bicycle was taken from an unlocked garage.
- 8900 block of Piney Branch Road: A residential burglary occurred on Sunday, Feb. 26 between 4:30 p.m. and 11 p.m. There wasn't a forced entry and nothing was taken.
- 9000 block of Piney Branch Road: A residential burglary occurred on Thursday, Feb. 23 between 5:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. There wasn't a forced entry and property was taken.

10600 block of New Hampshire Avenue: A residential burglary occurred on Monday, Feb. 27 at 6:01 p.m. There as an unknown means of entry and it was unknown if anything was taken.
Robberies:

- 11500 block of Lockwood Drive: A robbery occurred in this area on Friday, Feb. 24 at 4:49 p.m. The suspects removed property from the victim and fled.
- 9600 block of Cottrell Terrace: An armed robbery/carjacking occurred on Saturday, Feb. 25 at 3:15 a.m. The suspects threatened the victim with weapons, then obtained property and fled.
