PREVIEW: Safe Silver Spring Meeting Discusses Proposed Flash Mob Theft Act

The Flash Mob Theft Act is one of many issues on the table for discussion.

During the upcoming Safe Silver Spring meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 18, the community can join in on the discussion of the proposed Flash Mob Theft Act among other issues.

The meeting will take place inside of the and starts at 7 p.m.

If the legislation is passed in the state of Maryland, acts of theft committed by multiple individuals, in unison as one crime, could be considered a felony or a misdemeanor, according to a draft version of the bill.

Delegate Jeff Waldstreicher (D-18), of the House Judiciary Committee will be present to discuss this proposed legislation.

Other featured speakers who will be present include: Deena Hausner, from the House of Ruth of Maryland, who will discuss domestic violence legislation, Captain John "Mitch" Cunningham of the Montgomery County Police Department, Senator Jamie Raskin (D-Dist. 20 of Takoma Park) of the Senate Judiciary Committee, and Delegate Kathleen Dumais (D-15) Vice-Chair of the House Judiciary Committee.
