SILVER SPRING, MD — Several families were displaced in a heavy fire at a townhouse in the Dumont Oaks Community in Silver Spring Wednesday night, officials said.
No one was injured, but multiple families are displaced, Montgomery County Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson Pete Piringer said. Several cats are unaccounted and missing.
About 75 firefighters responded to the blaze in the 300 block of Lyric Lane at about 9 p.m. Arriving firefighters saw heavy fire showing from a middle-of-the-row townhouse in the Dumont Oaks Community. The residents were not home at the time, Piringer said.

The fire was knocked down in about 20 minutes and stayed contained in the townhouse it originated in. There was partial structure collapse on the first floor of the townhome. A Task Force assisted in putting out the fire, Piringer told Patch.
The temperature around the time of the fire was 32 degrees, but ‘feel-like’ temperatures in the low 20s with breezy, icy conditions, Piringer said. A sand/salt truck assisted on the scene.
