MD Lottery Player Wins $57,777, Calls Mom First To Share The Good News
A Maryland Lottery player from Silver Spring called his mom as soon as he realized he won $57,777 on the game Winning 7s, officials said.

SILVER SPRING, MD — A Maryland Lottery player from Silver Spring said he likes scratch-offs because they offer “the chance of getting some money.” He recently won $57,777 on the game Winning 7s.
“It’s either I win big or I go home,” he told Lottery officials last week after claiming his prize at the game's headquarters in Baltimore.
The Montgomery County man bought the $5 instant ticket from the 7-Eleven at 8472 Piney Branch Road in Silver Spring and scratched it while he was in the store. When he scanned the game’s prize check area using the Maryland Lottery app on his phone, the scratch-off fan realized just how much he had won.

“I went running to my car and called my mom,” he said in a Lottery news release.
Most of the prize will end up in his savings account, but he is pondering a trip to Atlantic City, New Jersey, and will probably buy something nice for his mom. After that, he plans to keep on playing scratch-offs.
