Court Date Set for Silver Spring Man Charged with Death of His Wife
The initial investigation uncovered two sharp objects used to stab Elizabeth Velez Vasquez, according to an official release.

Silver Spring resident Bernardo Paz Flores-Olvera has a preliminary hearing in court March 4 for the death of his wife Elizabeth Velez Vasquez, according to court documents.
Flores-Olvera is being charged with first-degree murder after his wife was found dead in their home Feb. 9. Flores-Olvera called police at 11:58 p.m. Feb. 8 to report he killed her.
The initial investigation recovered two sharp weapons used to stab his wife. One of the instruments was identified as a knife, according to a release from Montgomery County Police.

The couple's two children, a 3-month-old and 2-year-old, were home at the time of the assault, but Flores-Olvera later took them to a family member’s home before he was arrested, police officials said. It's uncertain if the children will stay there or be moved into Child Protective Care Services.
Flores-Olvera is expected to be in a Rockville courthouse on March 4 at 10 a.m.
