A 23-year-old Silver Spring woman was assaulted by her father-in-law, according to police officials. About 9:15 a.m. on Wednesday, police responded to the 10400 block of Haywood Drive for a report of domestic violence in progress. Shortly after, the victim came out with her 6-month-old baby and spoke with police. An initial investigation by police revealed the woman's 59 year-old father-in-law, Jose Felix Castillo, attempted to assault his daughter-in-law. There weren't any injuires.  Castillo was charged with one count of first-degree assault and one count of attempt first-degree assault.
