Tractor-Trailer Drags SUV, Killing Driver In Silver Spring Crash
Police said a tractor-trailer rig collided with an SUV and dragged the smaller vehicle for several hundred feet, killing its driver.

SILVER SPRING, MD — Investigators are working to determine why a tractor-trailer rig collided with an SUV and dragged the smaller vehicle for several hundred feet, killing the driver.
Montgomery County police said the fatal collision that occurred about 12:48 p.m. on Feb. 28 at the intersection of Layhill and Norbeck roads, according to a police news release Monday. The crash involved a yellow 2006 Freightliner truck pulling a black 2025 Brazos trailer and a 2021 Kia Seltos.
The driver of the Kia, Jiwon Kim, 28, of Silver Spring, was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

Investigators said the Freightliner was eastbound on Norbeck Road when it collided with the northbound Kia at the intersection. The tractor-trailer dragged the SUV before coming to a stop.
