Silver Spring Home Invasions Caught on Tape

Montgomery County Police are investiagting two residential burglaries that may be related.
About 11:25 a.m. on December 19, police officers from the third district responded to a burglary in progress in the 9500 block of McAlpine Road.
A neighbor noticed someone jump out of a green SUV and walk up to the side door of the home.

The suspect approached the residence, knocked on the door, and then kicked in the door after getting no response. He was then seen running from the residence with property and entering the green SUV.
During the neighbor’s call to police, a residential alarm alerted police officials to the same address as well. Officers arrived on the scene and with the homeowner confirmed that a burglary had taken place. A K-9 officer responded to the scene and officers circulated the area, but could not locate the suspects or the SUV.

Shortly after this residential burglary, police officers responded to another alarm on the 10000 block of Brunett Avenue.
When they arrived on the scene, they noticed the front door was open and appeared as a forced entry. The homeowner confirmed his home had been burglarized.
Home video surveillance showed a black male approaching the residence, knocking on the door, and kicking in the door when he did not get a response.
The suspect then entered the home and was seen running upstairs. Although the suspect rummaged through property, at this time it appears he did not take anything.
The green SUV was confirmed by surveillance videos.
The suspect who entered thr homes is described as a 25-year-old African American man weighing about 160 pounds and standing 5-feet 9-inches tall. He also has facial hair including a mustache and goatee.
