Eisa Gouredou, a Silver Spring resident and member of the Maryland Writers Association, is preparing her debut novel, In the Shadow of Dreams. The story, set in Miami, follows two young French women chasing their American dream. While the book is not yet published, Eisa is a local creative voice whose story could make a compelling feature for Patch, highlighting the vibrant arts and literary talent in our community.

A video from the <a href="https://silverspring.patch.com/groups/police-and-fire/p/track-fire-leads-to-evacuation-of-silver-spring-metro-station" rel="nofollow">May 14 fire on the Red Line</a> shows flashes of fire and smoke at the Silver Spring Metro station, as firefighters rush to the scene. The video, taken from Metro cameras, can be seen on <a href="http://www.wjla.com/articles/2013/07/red-line-metro-fire-on-may-14-recorded-on-video-91766.html" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">WJLA</a>. No one was injured in the fire. Metro investigated and found that the protective covering between the hydraulic hose and the power cable on the rail car <a href="https://silverspring.patch.com/groups/editors-picks/p/metro-cars-get-kevlar-after-silver-spring-fire" rel="nofollow">had worn down and caused the problems</a>.
