Whiz Kid: Northwood High School's Andrew Soncrant

Soncrant joined the varsity team after being called up for the final game of his freshman season.

Written By:  David Stinson

Northwood High School senior Andrew Soncrant played his way into the record books on Tuesday, after throwing a complete game victory and striking out a Northwood-record 13 batters as the visiting Gladiators defeated Watkins Mill HS 6-2 in varsity baseball.

Soncrant has been a member of the varsity team since being called up for the final game of his freshman season, but his performance against the Wolverines was definitely his finest. He also drove home Northwood’s first run of the game with a first-inning double that scored Ian Winnick. Then Carter Stinson drove in the 2nd run and the Gladiators never trailed.
