Woman ID'ed Who Died When Hit By Car In Giant Store Parking Lot

Montgomery County police have identified the woman who died when she was hit by a car at a Giant Food store in Burtonsville.

BURTONSVILLE, MD — Police have released the name of a woman who died Thursday after she was struck by a car in the parking lot of a Montgomery County grocery store.

According to Montgomery County Police, officers received a call about a pedestrian vs. vehicle collision at Giant Food, located in the 15000 block of Old Columbia Pike in Burtonsville. The victim was identified as 37-year-old Michelle Gogan of Burtonsville.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue also responded to the scene, police said. Gogan was taken to an area hospital, where she later died.

Investigators said Gogan was getting out of the passenger side of her parked vehicle when she was struck by a 2023 silver Mazda CX5. The driver of the Mazda was attempting to enter an adjoining parking stall when she struck Gogan, her vehicle and another parked vehicle.

The driver of the Mazda remained at the scene. Authorities have not released the name of the driver, and no charges have been filed.
