PHOTO OF THE DAY: No Trespassing
The sign is hung on a newly-erected fence at the end of High View Street.

A few years ago, I was working as a server at and would routinely park on High View to not take up a space in the lot. There wasn't a fence at the end of the road back then. Just a thicket of brush of cover.
On more than one occasion employees would talk about seeing unscrupulous characters darting through the thicket, fleeing from whatever supposed criminal act they had just committed.Â

I personally witnessed a man trying to break into truck on High View Street before I called out to him thinking he was a friend of mine. The man never looked in my direction and instead took off down the street and through the trees.
Let me assure you however that the Hightopps and the adjacent Turf Village are safe, despite a handful of incidents. Police officers routinely drive through the lots. But it begs the question—do the homeowners who live behind High View feel it necessary to threaten violence?
I haven't spoken with them.
In all likelihood, the sign could serve as a deterrent against drunken wanderers who would stumble through the thicket. But now an 8-foot fence and a very clear "no trespassing" sign block their path.
