Ethics Bill Released
Details of ethics reforms made public prior to the introduction of the bill at a Baltimore County Council meeting Monday night.
A bill promising to reform ethics laws in Baltimore County is now available for those who are looking for a little light reading.
The 46-page document proposed by County Executive Kevin Kamenetz was posted late Monday afternoon prior to the council's scheduled 6 p.m. meeting.
In a , Kamenetz promised the bill would toughen up laws limiting the ability of county employees to leave to become lobbyists or other consultants working on issues with county government. He also promised to tighten up rules governing the acceptance of gifts.

The bill as proposed also to enforce County Charter prohibitions against council members holding state jobs. The language was in response to a Patch story about a .
Kamenetz also added language requiring elected officials to of taking the job instead of disclosing in their next annual ethics filing. The change was also in response to questions raised by Patch, a county spokesman said last week.

The council will hold a hearing on the bill on November 29. A final vote is scheduled for Dec. 5.
The bill would take effect on Dec. 18 if five of the seven council members vote in favor of it.
