McDonough for Senate Redux

Eastside delegate lit drops state conservative convention but is he really running this time?

Pat McDonough could be getting serious about challenging Ben Cardin for his U.S. Senate seat or maybe he just had some time on his hands this weekend.

McDonough was spotted Saturday by our friends at Inside Charm City handing out literature proclaiming his candidacy for the Senate at the Maryland Conservative Action Network convention in Annapolis.

The Middle River Republican was not, however, on a panel featuring other GOP Senate hopefuls.

You may remember that McDonough said in July that he was because he believed that Rep. Dutch Ruppersberger's district would be too gerrymandered to be competitive for Republicans.

McDonough has not yet filed, according to the Maryland State Board of Elections.

In 2010, McDonough said he was considering runs for both governor and Baltimore County executive. He also had considered a run for state Senate before ultimately running for a third term as the delegate from the 7th District.
