Student Dies At Towson University: Officials

TOWSON, MD —Police and medical personnel converged in the West Village area of Towson University Tuesday afternoon.

Later, authorities said a student died on campus.

The response was due to a medical emergency involving a student who lives on campus, Towson University personnel reported.

Officials said a student died. Merbin Andres "Dre" Carattini, 18, was found unresponsive in his room Tuesday afternoon, university authorities confirmed Tuesday night.

"There is no threat to campus," the Towson University Office of Public Safety said in a statement after 4:30 p.m. "However, we ask everyone to stay away from the West Village area."
