• Suspect Arrested In Fatal Shooting Spree Targeting Random Victims (patch.com) — Police have arrested a 26-year-old Upper Marlboro man after a series of apparently random vehicle shootings in Upper Marlboro left one driver dead and two others injured. Officers quickly located the suspect near Watkins Park Plaza, recovered a linked weapon, and filed murder and attempted murder charges. Residents with information are urged to contact detectives or Crime Solvers.
   

• Penn State freshman DE Cortez Harris enters transfer portal (on3.com subscription) — Penn State defensive end Cortez Harris, who played high school football at Riverdale Baptist in Upper Marlboro, has entered the NCAA transfer portal after just one season. His departure is part of major turnover on the Nittany Lions’ defensive line, even as several other linemen commit to return and new transfers arrive under head coach Matt Campbell.
