1.5 Million Ballots Already Cast In MA: See Latest Data

More than a million Massachusetts voters got a head start on Tuesday's state general election through early and mail-in voting.

MASSACHUSETTS — Nearly 1.5 million Massachusetts voters are among nearly 76.5 million Americans who have already cast their ballots in Tuesday’s 2024 presidential election using mail-in or early in-person votes.

According to a Monday analysis by NBC News of data from election officials across the country, 32 percent of early votes in Massachusetts were cast by Democrats, 8 percent were by Republicans and 60 percent were by people who haven't declared a party.

Not all Massachusetts residents who requested an early-vote ballot had returned them by Monday. The returned ballots represent 81 percent of those requested by Democrats, Republicans and no-party voters.

Voters have until the end of voting on Tuesday to return their mail-in ballots to their respective town or city clerk's office. Ballots must be received by 8 p.m. on Nov. 5 — meaning it is too late to return them via U.S. mail.

Ballots can be returned directly to the clerk's office or to the voter drop boxes in the cities and towns that utilize them.

Early, in-person voting ended on Nov. 1.

Polls are open in Massachusetts from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday.

The campaigns of both former President Donald Trump, the Republican nominee, and his Democratic opponent Vice President Kamala Haris have pushed early voting to bank votes ahead of Election Day. Of early votes cast nationally, 41 percent have been cast by Democrats, 39 percent by Republicans and 20 percent by no-party voters.

Besides the all-important presidential race, Massachusetts voters will decide U.S. House races the U.S. Senate race between incumbent Democrat Elizabeth Warren and Republican challenger John Deaton, as well as five ballot questions and regional State House, Governor's Council, Register of Deeds and Clerk of Courts races.
