MASSACHUSETTS — It's an absolute scorcher in Massachusetts this week, but some area restaurants are running specials and highlighting menu items that can help locals cool off amid the high heat.
An extreme heat warning is in effect across Massachusetts through Tuesday night with temperatures expected to top 100 degrees for the first time in June in four years.
The National Weather Service said the "dangerously hot conditions" will include a heat index value of up to 110 degrees. The NWS issued the Extreme Heat Warning through Tuesday at 8 p.m.

If slushies are your preferred cool-down method, Essex Rooftop, in Boston, and Northern Spy, in Canton, also offer frozen drinks.
At Northern Spy, that menu includes a Frozé, as well as piña colada, strawberry daiquiri and Miami Vice slushies at The Garden Bar at $15 each from Thursday through Sunday.
The peak of the heat will be on Tuesday after a very warm Monday with highs in the low 90s inland and 80s right along the coast because of a sea breeze.
Temperatures will hover in the 70s with high humidity overnight into Tuesday, when a searing stream of hot air will funnel into New England. The NWS is calling for a high temperature of 102 degrees with a heat index of 109.
