First Snowfall In MA: How Much Is Expected?
Forecasters say the first snowfall of the season is coming Wednesday, but don't hold your breath for a winter wonderland just yet.
You know what they say about Massachusetts weather - wait five minutes, etc. etc. – but it rings true this week, as two days after highs in the 60s, the Bay State is expected to get its first widespread snow of the season.
However, folks grimacing at the prospect of digging their snowblower and shovels out from the back of the shed can breathe a sigh of relief. Wednesday's snowfall likely won't be more than a dusting, according to the latest forecasts from the National Weather Service.
Much of Massachusetts is expected to get 1-2 inches of snow, with parts of the South Shore and the Cape seeing less than an inch or nothing at all. The NWS says most of the snow will fall during the evening commute, so drivers are urged to use caution while on the roads.

Frigid temperatures Tuesday night into Wednesday will "set the stage for winter precipitation," according to AccuWeather. Temperatures will feel between 20 and 30 degrees across much of the state, but it may not even be enough for snow to stick to major roadways.
"The systems that will bring the light round of snow to the Northeast at midweek were rather weak and fragmented as of Wednesday," AccuWeather says.

It won't do much to perk up the ears of seasoned New Englanders, but the first snowfall of the season is always something to keep an eye on. Police warn that's when they often see the highest number of car crashes each year.
So ask any Cop who has been on the job for few years which day normally has the most motor vehicle crashes? Answer: First snowfall of the year. Slow down, be safe, and keep your insurance rates down. https://t.co/Qz5SXixPLg
