Frost, Fire Possible In MA During Seesaw Weather Week
Massachusetts will get a taste of both winter and spring this week, with temperatures swinging widely from frigid to pleasant.
MASSACHUSETTS — Massachusetts will see contradicting weather patterns this week, with elevated wildfire danger during the days and frost possible at night.
Kicking off the week, temperatures will be seasonable and dry with strong breezes. That's a recipe for wildfires, according to the National Weather Service, with most of the state still very early in the spring blossom season.
"There will be elevated fire weather concerns today and Tuesday. Given that we are in a pre-green up and a very dry atmosphere is in control," the weather service said Monday. "Expect minimum afternoon relative humidites to drop to between 15 and 25 percent today and between 20 and 30 percent on Tuesday. Winds will be NW today with some gusts of 15 to 20 mph, but will shift to the south on Tuesday with some gusts again of 15 to 20 mph."

Except for showers during the day Wednesday, skies will be sunny this week, with temperatures at or near 60 each day. It's possible some areas could see thunderstorms as rain moves in late Wednesday night.
But nights this week will be about as cold as January in some places. There are frost advisories in effect for all parts of the state from Norfolk County south to the Cape. Temperatures will dip below freezing in most places overnight Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, according to the weather service. Lows could even drop into the upper 20s in Worcester County and other points west.
