Grocery Chain In Massachusetts Recalling Some Foods Due To Salmonella Risk
The recall affects some subs, wraps, and paninis made in May due to salmonella risk.

MASSACHUSETTS — Big Y Foods has issued a voluntary recall of certain made-to-order subs, wraps, and paninis sold in its retail stores across Massachusetts and Connecticut due to a potential risk of salmonella contamination, the company announced.
The recall applies to sandwiches prepared on May 20 and 21 at Big Y’s in-store Kitchen Departments, following notification from supplier Smartcuts that a batch of sliced cucumbers used in the sandwiches may be linked to an ongoing salmonella outbreak associated with Bedner Growers Inc.
The Springfield-based grocery chain said the impacted sandwiches were prepared at the time of purchase at the sandwich counter and were not prepackaged or available for self-service. The company has halted sandwich operations at affected locations, discarded all related ingredients, and thoroughly sanitized the preparation areas.
