MA To Receive $138 Million In Federal Funding For Key Projects
Senator Ed Markey says districts in Massachusetts will share $138 million in federal funding to boost community projects.

MASSACHUSETTS — The Bay State will receive an estimated $138 million in Congressionally Directed Spending for the 2022 Fiscal Year that will go towards over a hundred community projects, Senator Ed Markey said Monday.
Some of the community projects will focus on transportation, environmental protection, labor, homeland security, energy and water development, and housing and urban development.
Members of Congress requested CDS funding for projects under guidelines issued by the Senate and House Appropriations Committees for the 2022 Fiscal Year. CDS requests were restricted to a limited number, allowing only eligible non-profit entities with state and local governments to receive CDS spending.

"These projects will spur our economy, strengthen our resiliency, expand access to important health care, promote clean energy and climate solutions, and help feed and house our most vulnerable in every region of our Commonwealth," Markey said.
Senator Elizabeth Warren said she had been fighting hard for the additional investments, noting how the funds will spur the economy while enhancing clean energy, housing, and education. "I will keep fighting to deliver federal resources to help Massachusetts families," said Warren.

"These robust investments will provide critical support for our most vulnerable communities who have suffered throughout the pandemic," said Rep. Ayanna Pressley. "I'm proud to have secured this federal funding alongside Senator Markey, Senator Warren, and our Massachusetts delegation to deliver resources for a just and equitable recovery that leaves no one behind."
Congressman Bill Keating said he was proud to have been able to deliver funding to all ten projects he requested for his district.
